A letter from our founder

December 29, 2025

Hi—Erin here.

I built StupidFish because I kept seeing the same thing happen to good people.

Smart, capable, hardworking people would come to me saying, “I know what I want to say… I just don’t know how to say it.” And the cost of that uncertainty was bigger than most people realize. It wasn’t just an awkward conversation. It was missed promotions, underpaid salaries, lingering resentment, anxiety before meetings, and the kind of second-guessing that follows you home.

I’ve spent years helping millions of people navigate work with clear, practical advice—especially the moments that feel high-stakes: asking for a raise, giving feedback, setting boundaries, advocating for yourself, handling conflict, and knowing when it’s time to leave. And I love that work. But I also noticed something: it’s one thing to hear great advice. It’s another to apply it when your heart is racing, your boss just pinged you, and you need to respond right now.

That’s the gap StupidFish was built to fill.

StupidFish is your pocket coach for the exact moments you don’t want to mess up. It helps you get unstuck fast with step-by-step guidance and ready-to-send scripts—so you can walk into tough conversations with clarity and walk out of them proud of how you showed up.

Here’s what I wanted StupidFish to be from day one:

  • Practical, not preachy. No vague “just be confident” advice. Real words you can use.
  • Fast. Because the moments that matter don’t wait for the perfect time.
  • Human. Work is emotional. We don’t pretend it isn’t.
  • Empowering. The goal isn’t to sound polished. It’s to communicate clearly—without losing yourself.

If you’ve ever rewritten a message ten times. If you’ve ever avoided a conversation because you didn’t know how it would land. If you’ve ever left a meeting thinking, “I should’ve said that differently”—StupidFish is for you.

My hope is simple: that StupidFish makes career growth feel more doable. That it helps you advocate for yourself earlier, speak up more clearly, and stop carrying the weight of work stress alone. And that over time, it doesn’t just change what you say—it changes what you believe you’re allowed to ask for.

Thanks for being here. I’m really glad you found us.
